First Look – Suunto Ambit 3 Vertical Released Today
Looking for the convenience of a running watch and the features of a proper handheld outdoors GPS device? Today sees the exclusive launch of the Suunto Ambit 3 Vertical, exclusively at Cotswolds Outdoors (and on general release from the 15th Feb). Not only does it log your route like any other GPS watch, but you can follow a route, check your altitude and even plan your route in the field using their Suunto Movescount App.
Our first impressions, and we’re trying to get our mitts on one to try this out in the field, is that it’s well suited to being outdoors for the duration. With 100 hours battery life, whilst logging the route every minute, it’s good to go for over a week’s walking without worrying about recharging. It still lasts 15 hours if you choose to log your position every five seconds. Sporting a stainless steel bezel and water resistant to 100m, this should easily cope with most mountain conditions. Add the ‘smart sensor’ in order to record your heart rate,or even use other bluetooth HRM monitors with this device so long as they’re Bluetooth Smart Compatible(or Bluetooth 4.0 if you prefer).
The Suunto Ambit3 Vertical has a RRP £290 (£320 with the Suunto Smart Sensor) and is available from 14th January exclusively at Cotswolds and general release from 15th February 2016 .
