The Vale of Ffestiniog Way

This is a short local route that joins onto the Wales Coastal Path in Maentwrog and offers an inland extension to that walk.

The Route

The walk starts off in Maentwrog in the Vale of Ffestiniog, continuing via wooded gorges to the village of Ffestiniog. From there, the route takes up the ancient Sarn Helen Roman road across remote and seldom visited hillsides, though barely a slate’s throw from civilisation as the quarries prove.

Finally returning, via Blaenau Ffestiniog along the Tanygrisiau Reservoir and the woodland parallel to the Ffestiniog Railway.
