Talkin Fell from Castle Carrock

Talkin Fell is a short walk from near Castle Carrock on the edge of the North Pennines AONB. There are excellent views from the summit across to the Lakes, and some interesting cairns to boot.

The name’s the same as ‘talcen’ in Welsh meaning  ‘brow’ or rock face, and is a throwback to when this area spoke Cumbric; a close relation to Old Welsh.

On a clear day the panorama from the top of Talkin Fell is probably one of the best you’ll get for the effort involved in getting there.
