Siabod and Carnedd y Cribau Wild Camp
Had an interesting weekend wild camping over Moel Siabod, testing out some new gear and mainly some new grub, all in preparation for a Knoydart trip in a few months’ time. It was all good, camping in the forest on the way up on Friday and having a bit of a play with a Kelly Kettle and then up and over Siabod to camp on Carnedd y Cribau last night. Thankfully, after long suffering, my ankle seemed happy with this trip. Here are some pics. Reviews of the Kelly Kettle and some other things to follow!
Saturday was pretty misty. This is Llyn y Foel.
But it was glorious on top of Siabod!
Yr Wyddfa.
There’s a tiny lake, or pool, on top of Carnedd y Cribau. It was such a spot that we stopped and that was that. I imagined that this summit barely saw anyone, ever before a group of eight appeared, followed by another and then, finally, a couple with a baby in a carrier. Probably the most the summit has ever seen in one go!
Sunday was a return to the murky condtions as we descended to Llynoedd Diwaunydd. This is a wonderfully under rated part of the park and the view from the lake towards Carnedd y Cribau is one of the best in the park and one of the least known.
Unfortunately, some have no respect for the wilds. If they really wanted a fire then there was plenty of room on the lake shore, barely 10m away where they could have buried the remains and the water would have washed away any evidence soon enough… There really is no exuse for destruction like this.
