Walks in Shropshire

The Shropshire hills can be found in the rural county of Shropshire in England and sits on the border with Wales. Covering almost a quarter of the county, these hills are designated one of the UK’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Boasting miles of public rights of way and open access land the walking choices here are in plentiful supply. From short country walks to long distance stomps, the Shropshire hills will please all walkers, and offer great hill walking options for the populous of the midlands within easier reach than other areas such as Snowdonia or the Lake District.

Walks in Shropshire highlights include The Wrekin, one of the most famous natural landmarks in the area. Wenlock edge, a narrow 24km long limestone escarpment, and Long Mynd, which is one of Shropshire’s most popular hills.

Those who like Long distance paths are also catered for, with the Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail passing through Shropshire for roughly 45km. As well as having it’s own, in the form of The Shropshire Way, which is a figure of eight route, some of which is still in development (as of May 2018).

All our Shropshire walking routes come with Ordnance Survey mapping and downloadable GPX files for GPS devices. There’s also either a detailed description written by ourselves, or a link to our carefully curated routes on selected partner websites.
