About Walking on the Llyn Peninsula
This glorious area is unlike any other part of Wales, and we have Llyn Peninsula Walks (Pen Llŷn in Welsh) suitable for all tastes and abilities.
Stretching out into the Irish Sea, the Llyn Peninsula, the arm of Wales has a very strong sense of cultural identity with 73% able to speak Welsh, it is steeped in history and is one of 5 Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in Wales.
Those who have the time might want to walk the stunning coastline in it’s entirety by following the Wales Coastal Path. Or explore more manageable walks from places such as Aberdaron, Abersoch, Nefyn and Pwllheli.
The Llyn Peninsula even boast their own hills. Walk up Yr Eifl, Mynydd Gwaith and Tre’r Ceiri from Llithfaen so you can summit it’s highest point, and in turn explore one of the finest examples of a bronze age hill fort in Britain.
With stunning coastline usually comes stunning beaches, and Llyn Peninsula is no exception. Porth Neigwl, or Hell’s Mouth as it’s known in English is a mecca for local and visiting surfers alike, follow this enjoyable circular walk for a spectacular view above the semi-circular bay with the iconic Snowdonia Mountains in the distance.
For those who like a good pub, you won’t go far wrong with a walk at Porthdinallaen, which visits the famous Ty Coch Inn (Welsh for Red House), voted third best beach pub in the World no less!
All our Llyn Peninsula walking routes come with Ordnance Survey mapping and downloadable GPX files for GPS devices. There’s also either a detailed description written by ourselves, or a link to our carefully curated routes on selected partner websites.
