Walk the Historic Kerry Ridgeway

The Kerry Ridgeway, even if I’m still convinced I went to school with someone of the same name, is a linear bridlway that keeps high on the green ridges of the Mid Wales hills. It starts at Cider Ho, a name which hasn’t lost an exclamation mark rather than just being an abbreviation for house, which is just south of Newtown. It continues for a distance of 24km with only a height gain of a couple of hundred metres, as far as Bishop’s Castle.

The route’s largely on very good tracks, green bridleways and some metalled tracks, making it suitable for a mountain bike.

While it doesn’t directly pass over the summits of Bryn Coch and Cilfaesty Hill, they’re only a short detour from the start.
