Walk the Wales Coast Path Porth Oer to Aberdaron
This Llyn Peninsula section of the Wales Coast Path from Porth Oer (Whistling Sands) to Aberdaron is the highlight of this section of the long distance path. A wonderful coastal walk awaits all the way to the end of the Llyn Peninsula and Mynydd Mawr, before turning left for Aberdaron. While this leg is relatively short, there’s plenty of ascent and allow a short day to complete it. Strong walkers can complete the section easily on 4 hours with the remaining half day allows you to charter a boat to Ynys Enlli.
There are facilities at the NT car park at Porth Oer, as well as down in the beach cafe – which makes this an ideal stopping point on this section of the walk.
Aberdaron, however, is only 13km away with two pubs, a cafe, chippy and a village shop. The route is straightforward to follow as it’s well waymarked all along it’s route with the Wales Coastal Path makers.
This is a linear route, but on certain days of the week you can make use of the Bws Llyn in order to return from Aberdaron to Porth Oer. Failing that, add 4 km and an hour or so to return to the start via country lanes.
