Short Walk from Bowness to Cockshott Point

This is a very short walk along Windermere’s shore at Bowness-on-windermere in the Lake District. The route starts from the Bowness Bay Visitor Information and continues along Glebe Road on an urban walk past shops at Windermere Quays and the marina, before you reach some more greenery and the lakeside at Cockshott Point.

Cockshott Point is a National Trust property and an exceptionally good path leads here from Glebe Road. It’s classed as being suitable for all, meaning it’s ideal for families with pushchairs and is wheelchair accessible – but check the official link below before setting off. The highlight of the route is obviously the views across Windermere and towards Belle Isle and the Round House. This is incidentally the largest island on Windermere and the only one to be inhabited. There are plenty of benches on the route to enjoy the view.

After reaching Ferry Nab, this short walk then returns to the start via Rectory Road. Blue way-marking signs ensure that finding your way around should be easy enough!
