North Pennine Ridge – North – Hartside Pass to Hallbankgate
This is a tough route over the northernmost North Pennine hills of Black Fell and Cold Fell from Hatside Pass. The starting point is 575m high, but you’ll need to organise transport at both ends to complete this route.
You can also start the route at Dufton in order to complete a full traverse of the North Pennine ridge – North Pennine Ridge South – Dufton to Hartside Pass via Cross Fell – ideal for a weekend wild camp, and if you time it right you may even have breakfast at the Hartside Cafe in the morning.
