The crossing point at Faenol roudabout needs care as cars do not slow down on this part. Should be a proper crossing here and we’d take extra care if you’ve little ones in tow.

Lon Adda Cycletrack from Felinheli to Bangor

This is a new cycleway that connects the Lon Las Fenai in Felinheli with the Lon Las Ogwen in Bangor. It’s mostly traffic free or on quiet lanes, though one significant section is along a busy and narrow main road where you may choose to push for the short distance if you’re only happy cycling on traffic free routes. This is quite an utilitarian route in places, and an urban route through the city for the remainder.

The Route

There’s very little information available, but the route leaves Felinheli along the route of the old railway, before joining the new traffic free section just before the Faenol. This   is a wide ‘pavement’ to all intents and purposes, and this is traffic free all the way to Coed Mawr in Bangor. You do have to cross the main road at the Faenol Roundabout and traffic bound and leaving the A55 at Tescos.

The section from Coed Mawr is along quieter roads, and has a few more traffic free sections before you join the busier main road under the railway bridge. This is only a short section, and there’s a pavement you can follow if need be. You’re then traffic free all the way to Porth Penrhyn, past the University and the Cathedral and the City Centre on the way.
