Llyn Brenig and Alwen Reservoir Walk – Two Lakes Trail

The Two Lakes Trail in Mynydd Hiraethog takes you first around Alwen Reservoir (not to be confused with nearby Llyn Alwen!) before taking on the walk around Llyn Brenig. While the route looks reasonably flat, over the 21km it covers the ascent builds up to a not insignificant 400m or so. Those looking to just walk around Llyn Brenig rather than the full Two Lakes Trail, can view our Walk around Llyn Brenig post. Or for the Alwen Reservoir, read our description of the Alwen Reservoir Section here.

The route is also a great family cycle ride, with the trails all straightforward forestry tracks rather than a true mountain bike trail.

There’s the Llyn Brenig Visitor Centre to stop at on the way around – it’s well worth the small diversion.
