Four Valleys Path
This a route that was once promoted by Gwynedd Council, but appears no longer supported on their site. The image of the way mark below was taken over five years ago and it had seen better days even then. It crosses from the Nantlle Valley, to the Gwyrfai, Padarn and Ogwen valleys, each of which has seen scarring by the slate quarrying industry at some point or other.
This site appears to have uploaded a copy of the original pdf!
Starting off in Penygroes, the route crosses the Gwyrfai Common across to Moel Smytho before descending to the Snowdonia Parc Inn in Waunfawr. From here, you’re back uphill and over to Cefn Du and over to Llanberis.
Around the lake and again up over to the Ogwen Valley past Deiniolen and skirting Moel Lleucu (Moel y Ci on maps) before descending to end the walk in Bethesda.
There’s meant to be a red capped post at all junctions, but they can be rather random and are no longer maintained so cannot be relied upon. Though it does follow well used paths in the main, so there’s no access problems (yet). This is ideal if you want a challenging day out, and even if it doesn’t climb much over 400m you do so three times and that soon mounts up to over a 1000m ascent!
