Dinas Dinlle Hill Fort Easy Walk

This is an easy walk up to the ancient fort at Dinas Dinlle and along the ramparts.

The Route

You can start at any point on the beach, and if you start at the far end where the road turns right for the airport then you can add about 3km to the distance.

Park in one of the first car parks, there’s usually plenty of room unless it’s the middle of summer.

There’s an easy path along the seawall that leads past the chippy at the end.

Behind the chippy, there’s a gate and an easy path up to the fort that has been constructed from grippy wood. While there is a path directly up, its best you take the constructed path to avoid erosion of the historic monument.

Keep left rather than climbing directly to the highest point, following the line of the ramparts and dropping down slightly to cross the entrance.

Continue along the ramparts until you reach the fence and the cliffs. The cliffs cross the line of the fort, which has been diminished in size by the sea in the millennia since being built.

While only 30m high, there are excellent views towards Ynys Llanddwyn and Mynydd y Twr on Anglesey; Yr Eifl down along the Llyn and of course the backdrop of Eryri behind you.

Well worth popping into Bwyty Lleu for a cuppa or something more substantial afterwards!
