More Mile London Running Socks

Socks are, as I always say when reviewing socks, something that I begrudge paying for. I might be happy enough shelling out hundreds of quid for the latest tech, but I’ll baulk at shelling out more than a few quid for socks. With my previous Karrimor socks were both wearing thin and disappearing, with only 3 pairs remaining, albeit one with two lefts. So are my trusty Bridgedale short walking socks, which have such a large hole in them as to make them almost unusable.

So with rave reviews on Amazon, do the More Mile London Running socks cut it? Well, in a word, yes. They’re padded in the right places, and have a quality feel about them. They don’t feel thin, while at the same time aren’t thick enough to cause your feet to overheat. You need to be careful if you’re between sizing, as the 8.5 -10.5 are on the tight side for my size tens, which suits me for use with barefoot shoes, but others might prefer a larger size.

You can see by the pictures that they shrink a bit in the wash – the white ones being a new pair while the darker sock has been well used. This is rather frustrating, as they’re just right to start with while the shrinkage makes them a tad too short for my liking. Given a bit more height in the ankle, I’d personally use them for summer walks, but as they stand, they’re too short for boots, but OK for walking shoes.

I’m not too keen on the white pair as they look a bit naff, but the black pair are OK. Which is the only real criticism I have towards these socks, having bought a second set soon after the first. Thankfully, they’re available in single pairs, and you only save 1p by buying in bulk. Just be aware that these have an rrp of £11.99, but I’ve only ever seen them for sale at half that price.

What the manufacturer says:

  • Padded sole incorporating Tactel Aquator to keep feet dry and enhance comfort. Massaging sole Arch Brace to prevent sock from slipping.
  • Mesh construction for rapid moisture transportation and breathability. Lightweight cushioned rib construction to maximise performance.
  • Comfort cuff.
