Douself Portable Folding Camping Table Review

A Chair is one thing on a wild camp, but a table? Sometimes we like to see how far we can push the luxury end of our camping and it was natural when we saw a foldable table for a bargain price that it was just irresistible!

The Douself Foldable Camping Table, a Chinese import via Amazon, packs into a tidy bag and is exceptionally easy to assemble. Not only that, but at around £17, this is an absolute bargain. But bargain or not, how does it fare in the hills? It packs into a long bag that’s easy enough to pack on the side of the pack, or inside, without taking up excessive space. It does weigh in at a significant 700g or so, which isn’t bad for a table. We found that it was easily light enough to blow away if the wind picks up. The folded up table is just about visible on the side of the pack below, that’s how unobtrusive it is.

Assembling the table is a piece of cake. The only complication is the two cross struts that stiffen the table top, which we left out the first time. It was still usable without these, but a bit too loose to entrust your coffee or beer to. Once the cross pieces are in, the tabletop is solid, and we had no issues at all with it. As the table measures up at 56cm in height, with a 42 by 37cm table top, it’s a practical table unlike those sold as ‘backpacker’s tables’ that are barely more than a bed tray.

We used it for all sorts on a recent wild camp, from resting our beers to roasting and grinding our own coffee, and it we found it invaluable for this sort of trip. A table is certainly something that doesn’t fit into the lightweight ethos, but along with a camping chair (Helinox 1) really does take your camping comfort to another level!

It’s also quite sturdy, we were nearly tempted to sit on it a few times. It also lasted a whole week in the company of two teenage girls, which has to count for something.

Overall, if you really want to go Wild Glamping, then a table is a must. We’d be more inclined to take it on a fully blown winter wild camp with the Trango, where a table would be useful inside the tent for those long winter nights. With a 5 kilo tent, you can’t begrudge another kilo or so for this and a chair.

Be honest, do you want to be as comfortable as this when camping or not?
