Classic Kit – Snow Peak Titanium Mug Long Term Review

I’ve had the Snow Peak Titanium Mug for years. It was an expensive bit of kit when I bought it, anything up to seven years ago, and it’s a little bit cheaper now.

What can you say about a mug? Not a lot usually. It’s a metal cylinder, closed off at one end to keep what you pour in from passing straight through. There are a couple of sturdy handles that fold back for packing. While it does have signs of use, it’s more of a patina than wear and tear. The only thing that’s worn is the superfluous Snow Peak branding that was painted on and vanished not long after I bought it. This mug’s as light as they come, even doubling as a cooking pot at a pinch on those trips where you want to role play the gram weenie. The pot’s 450ml capacity being just sufficient for a dehydrated meal and about right for the morning’s dose of extra strong caffeine.

While it’s been along on almost every backpacking  trip since I bought it, it’s never had the attention it deserves. Until now that is.

So here are the photographs that the mug has previously featured in, cropped to feature the Snowpeak Mug with the attention it thoroughly deserves.

It’s been taken on multiple trips and generally ignored, but still managing to show itself in a few images. Here it snuck into a shot in Knoydart.

While at other times – shy and retiring. Hiding behind big brother Titan Kettle who’s invariably along on these trips and usually keeps the tupperware in check.

It’s usually seen, in the company of other, more glamorous bits of kit. Usually coffee related. The Aerobie Coffee press fits perfectly on top.

And of course – the simple pleasure of a coffee in the morning. Usually as it comes regarding milk or not, but never ever instant coffee- even on the mountain!
