If you’ve seen our how to fry an egg article, then you may be interested in one of these.

They’re available in a wide range of colours that make very little difference unless you want one to match the shade of your inner tent. More relevantly, this is a decent pan for frying a single egg or anything else you can fit into it. You can see here that it does so admirably.

Weight wise, at only 150g it’s not likely to break your back if you’re off on a trip and really need a small pan. Granted, this isn’t an essential item and you still need to work out how to carry the eggs, but on a backpacking trip where you’re likely to pass through and camp in villages this provides you with a welcome option for breakfast. You could cook your bacon in this, then throw it in with the beans and sausages to keep warm while you  sort the egg out. Better than all day breakfast in a tin that’s for certain.

If you’re desperate to cut weight further, then you could easily remove the pan’s handle and reduce the pan’s weight by up to a third. A pot grab fits perfectly, but considering that they weigh about 30g I don’t see the reduced weight being worth the destruction as I don’t use one as a rule. It also means that I can continue to use it in the kitchen, where this is likely to get 90% of it’s use.

Couple this with a decent sealable box for egg storage and a spatula, and you’ve got the tools to produce the perfect breakfast for your luxury wild camp.
