All I want for Christmas 11 Look What We Found Camping Food Hamper

Camping Food Selection Box – £41.86

We’ve found no better food in a bag than the Look what we found range. Sourced from high quality independent providers, you know this is quality. As someone who worked for a few years in the food processing industry, once you know what goes on within the rules, you certainly think differently about anything that’s not wholefood. I’ve no such qualms with the Look what we found range, and even if I did, they’re still the tastiest camping foods available.

You can cook these in the obvious way, that is, by tipping the contents into a pot and heating up, or by boiling in the bag. You can actually eat these cold if you have to:

Do make sure that the food is piping hot prior to eating, there should be no danger from underheating the dishes – they could, in theory, be eaten cold! – but to ensure they taste their best it is always best to heat them thoroughly to allow the flavours to develop.

The pack contains: 2 x Herdwick Mutton Stew, 4 x Cumbrian Lamb Hotpot, 4 x Fellside Beef Casserole, 2 x Beef in Porter with Potatoes and 2 x Thai Chicken Curries with Brown Basmati. I’ve only tasted the Beef in Porter, and it went down well as lunch on a cool June day in the Lairig Leacach Bothy. The only down side is that they tend to be rather low in calories, when one of the main criteria along with taste for wild camping foods is weight versus energy. This is fine for the foods that need bulking with carbs (meatballs, bolognase and chilli) but you may find that some of the others just aren’t enough on their own after a hard day out.

Unfortunately, there’s no meatballs in this pack, which really is one of my favourite foods (review to follow! But it gets a 5 star rating). Not only on the hill, but I’ve eaten meatballs at restaurants that have not tasted as good as these. While Look What We Found also produce some wonderful looking soups for starters, all they need to add are some pudding  choices to provide a full backpacking choice.
