Aircast Ankle Support
This sort of gear isn’t really the most exciting, and certainly not the kind of shiny shiny you want to be using unless you have to. Despite being as exciting as a commode, being the hardened outdoor athlete that I am (well, slight exaggeration perhaps) I’m bound to pick up the odd bump and scrape. The most recent being an ankle sprain on the summit of Snowdon herself. A painful descent ensued, though it gave me little comfort that i am now faster while injured than i was a few years ago at my best.
That was three weeks ago, and having tried a cheap support at £6 that gave me more pain, I decided to get something decent. The Aircast A60 Ankle support is designed with the athlete in mind, though i’m sure that won’t stop it being effective for me. It’s well made, but doesn’t feel like £50 worth, but once in use I managed a 10k run with less pain than 7 the other night. Of course, this could be because I’m getting better and the real test will be on the hillside over some real rough terrain…. But at least it’s going to help prevent the ankle from excessive rocking and keep the pain down.
The Aircast A60 support, while being expensive, has really opened the door for me to become more active much sooner than I would have without it. For that, fifty quid is a small price!
Oh – and no – that’s not me…
