Our Top 15 Posts from 2011 Part 1
What posts have we been particularly proud of over the year? Here are the highlights of all our posts over the last 12 months (we think!) in our humble opinion.

No Such Thing as a Free Lunch…..
Back in April we took a look at a few free online resources for the avid reader. It’s surprising that there are whole archives of magazines available free for anyone to read. Granted, some of the content has dated, but some of the trip reports are certainly still valid and some of the dated stuff may be of historical interest. Failing that, you can always have a good laugh at the 70s images and the huuuuge packs!

Get into Wild Camping - 4 part tutorial….
Then in May, we ran this series of tutorials to explain the basics of wild camping. It’s probably not going to get you out in this weather, but it’ll make some good reading for the spring and hopefully motivate you to get that tent out. If it doesn’t, then we’ll have a series of articles in the early spring to get you out camping and backpacking on some long distance footpaths.
Wild Camping on a Budgie one and part two….. Wild camping for under £100?
Having whet wild camping appetites, we somehow managed to get kitted out for a wild camp in the mountains for under £100. Not only did we manage to do so cheaply, we think we did so comfortably as well. Having to squeeze all the bulky cheap kit into a day pack was a challenge, but we managed to do that and carry a few extras out with us (look carefully at the images!
Superlight Challenge part one and two…. Not content to go cheap, we decided to go light as well!
August, in what was technically summer, saw us lose pack weight and wild camp on Snowdon with only a tiny 20 litre pack. We managed to find a corker of an evening and again, even if we were desperately squeezing gear into the tiny pack, we managed to take the essentials with us as well (you’ll have to try and spot it on our rather crap video).
How to get the kids up their first hill - exactly what it says on the tin…
Still in what was nominally the ‘Summer’, we thought you’d find inspiration in this article to try and drag reluctant offspring and better halves onto the hill over the bank holiday. If you note that point two in the article advises that you choose decent weather, in likelihood you’re still waiting.
Part Two Next Monday…
